چکیده

Background Although cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging is routinely used for evaluation of patients with repaired tetralogy of Fallot (TOF), the role of extracellular volume (ECV) measurement, a marker of diffuse myocardial fibrosis, has not been studied extensively in this population. This study aimed to describe left ventricular (LV) ECV measurements in subjects with repaired TOF, and to evaluate for associations with surgical factors, ventricular size and function, and aortic distensibility.

Right ventricular Hemodynamic Alteration after Pulmonary Valve Replacement in Children with Congenital Heart Disease

Introduction:  In patients who underwent surgery to repair Tetralogy of Fallot, right ventricular dilation from pulmonary regurgitation may be result in right ventricular failure, arrhythmias and cardiac arrest. Hence, pulmonary valve replacement may be necessary to reduce right ventricular volume overload. The aim of present study was to assess the effects of pulmonary valve replacement on rig...

بررسی عملکرد بطن‌ها با اکوکاردیوگرافی در نارسایی دریچه ریوی پس از جراحی تترالوژی فالوت

Background: Tetralogy of Fallot is the most common cyanotic congenital heart disease. The systolic and diastolic function in both ventricles is altered even after successful corrective surgery for this defect with a transannular patch. Pulmonary regurgitation, a common complication after this treatment, is usually well tolerated in childhood. The aim of this study was to assess the combined dia...

New insights in ventriculo-arterial coupling and ventricular shape in repaired tetralogy of Fallot: a retrospective cohort study

Background Severe pulmonary regurgitation (PR%) and consequent right ventricular (RV) enlargement are observed features in repaired tetralogy of Fallot (ToF). Due to ventricular interactions, the shape and function of the left ventricle (LV) can also be affected. It has been shown, for instance, that ToF patients exhibit reduced longitudinal strain as a possible sign of LV dysfunction, despite ...

Impact of abnormal septal geometry on cardiac output in Ebsteins anomaly with tricuspid regurgitation compared to repaired Tetralogy of Fallot

Introduction We previously found reduction of cardiac index (CI) in patients with tricuspid regurgitation (TR) due to Ebstein anomaly, but not in patients with comparable right ventricular (RV) volume loading due to pulmonary regurgitation (PR) in patients with repaired tetralogy of Fallot (rTOF). We postulated that the difference may be attributable to impaired left ventricular (LV) filling ca...

Left ventricular extracellular volume is associated with loss of exercise tolerance in children after Tetralogy of Fallot repair, but not with ventricular dysfunction

Methods In 25 patients (age 13.6±2.5 years, 14 male) after surgical repair of Tetralogy of Fallot (ToF), T1 measurements were performed at a mid and basal ventricular level in short axis before and 15 minutes after the application of 0.1 mmol/kg gadobenate dimeglumine in the interventricular septum (IVS), left ventricular (LV) lateral wall, complete LV myocardium and diaphragmatic portion of th...
